Add Secure Shell (SSH) to your domain name

Secure Shell (SSH) is a secure method of communication available on Linux webservers. This allows you to communicate with our Linux webservers and is useful when you need to do something that cannot be performed using FTP, for example:

Before you can connect using SSH you must create an SSH password within your account control panel.

Tip: You can only add SSH to a domain name hosted on a Linux webserver.

Step 1: Log into your account control panel.

Step 2: Click Manage domain and hosting in the top left corner of your control panel.

Step 3: If you have more than one account, click on the domain name you want change add SSH to.

Step 4: in the SSH section, create an SSH password in the text box provided then click Setup SSH.

Step 5: You will receive on-screen confirmation that SSH has been added to your account. This will also show the details you need to access SSH on your webserver.

Note: It can take up to 30 minutes for SSH to become active on your domain name.

Our article Connecting to your Linux Domain with SSH will show you how to connect to your site.
