There are three ways to upload files, streamlineftp.net, Frontpage extensions and FTP.
Files can be transferred to the web server using an FTP program (File Transfer Protocol).
- Streamlineftp.Net allows you to upload files using a your web browser. This is useful if you are unable to use traditional FTP software, if you want to update your website, but cannot get to your home computer for example. More details on using Streamlineftp.Net can be found in our knowledgebase article: What is Streamlineftp.Net?
- Microsoft FrontPage users can 'publish' their sites to our server by using the built in publish facility. Our article Uploading your site using FrontPage Extensions explains the upload process in more details.
- FTP is the most common method for uploading and administering your website. Once you have set up your FTP software this is a quick and easy way to make any changes to your site. There is a wide range of software available for this purpose, such as FileZilla, SmartFTP, CuteFTP, or Dreamweaver.
What are my FTP settings?
- FTP host name: ftp.yourdomainname.co.uk replacing yourdomainnname.co.uk with your actual domain name.
Tip: You can use
ftp.streamline.net as the hostname if you have not yet transferred your domain
- Username: yourdomainname.co.uk (replacing yourdomainnname.co.uk with your actual domain name).
- Password: By default, your FTP password is the same as your control panel password. You can change your FTP password in your account control panel at any time.
- Default or remote directory: htdocs
